Extraction Solutions

BUCHI offers dedicated extraction solutions for the classical determination of fat, as well as for residue and contaminant analysis in various matrices. BUCHI covers the whole range of automated extraction methods from Soxhlet to hot extraction and pressurized solvent extraction. These solutions allow for ideal integration in the workflow, thus minimizing manual steps.

The UniversalExtractor E-800 with its six distinct extraction positions enables individual process control and simultaneous operation of different extraction methods. Multiple work packages can be executed in parallel, which allows for faster method development and higher sample throughput. High-speed heaters combined with sophisticated process control permit fast and highly reproducible extraction processes. The large condenser captures vapors efficiently and ensures highest solvent recovery (>90%). Full extraction process visibility is enabled by the glass assemblies. All components that are in contact with the sample and the solvents are made of completely inert material, which eliminates sample contamination and any memory effects from leaching materials.

The UniversalExtractor can be employed in chemical, pharmaceutical, feed and food extraction as well as in environmental analysis. More info

The FatExtractor E-500 is designed for solid-liquid extraction for quick and compliant fat determination. The design of the glass assemblies and the high-speed heaters combined with sophisticated process control allow for fast and highly reproducible extraction processes with full compliance. With the interchangeable glass assembly, executing extractions according to Soxhlet, Randall or Twisselmann (ECE) and a later conversion to another extraction method is possible - adaptable to needs and changing demands. Using high-end components such as optical sensor, powerful heating and optimized glass assembly, cycle times can be significantly reduced. The FatExtractor can be employed in the food and feed extraction and is suitable for extractions with petroleum ether, diethyl ether, hexane or chloroform. More info

The HydrolEx H-506 performs acid hydrolysis as a sample preparation step prior to fat extraction for total fat determination. It supports large sample volumes of up to 10 gram samples for accurate results, independent of fat content or homogeneity. The HydrolEx H-506 offers a smooth and safe process with convenient system handling, assuring conformity with official regulations for the declaration of total fat content. The standardized and exhaustive procedure guarantees reproducible results. The HydrolEx H-506 offers a convenient transfer of the hydrolyzed sample into the Soxhlet extraction chamber with reusable glass sample tubes and the specialized glass samples tube fits perfectly into the FatExtractor E-500.

The SpeedExtractor with its automated sealing is the ideal solution for fast Pressurized Solvent Extraction (PSE), increasing productivity and throughput by processing up to 6 samples in parallel (up to 96 samples in an 8hour shift). The high level of automation, the ease of sample loading and the ready-to-use extract collection enable the workflow of the sample preparation to be streamlined and increase safety. The wide temperature and pressure range, sample volumes from 1 to 120 mL and the integrated mixer for up to 4 solvents allow to reliably extract complex matrices with high recovery of the analytes.
